About Us
Man Up Counseling is a team of professional counselors and coaches dedicated to challenging men to face their fears rather than avoid them. Whether you are a teen or young adult searching for identity, purpose, and direction, or a seasoned man navigating the pressures of marriage, family, finances, emotions, and responsibility, you do not have to do it alone.
A Holistic Approach to Men’s Mental Health
Life’s obstacles can either break us or build us. The difference lies in how we approach them. At Man Up Counseling, we believe the very experiences that once held you back can become the foundation of your strength. One day, your story of overcoming may give hope to someone else who is struggling.
We take a whole man approach, addressing mind, body, and spirit. True strength is not about suppressing emotions—it’s about understanding them, managing them, and using them to grow.
Meet the Founder
Edwin DeJesus is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed School Counselor, and Licensed Professional Educator with over 35 years of experience working with teens and men. His background includes roles as a teacher, guidance counselor, advisor, karate instructor, MMA trainer, and facilitator of men’s groups in both educational and faith-based settings.
After retiring in 2021 following 26 years in education, Mr. DeJesus devoted himself entirely to his passion for men’s growth, development, restoration, and transformation. During his time in education, he founded and led The Man-Up Program. This leadership development after-school initiative served high school students for seven years. It later evolved into a comprehensive counseling, coaching, and mentoring service for men of all ages.
Mr. DeJesus believes that identity is one of the most significant challenges facing men’s mental health today. "Who you think you are guides the choices you make." His approach integrates modern, evidence-based therapeutic practices with “old school” foundational wisdom and select faith-based principles, offering a holistic and values-driven model of care.
He believes that when men are mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy, they are better prepared to face life’s challenges, lead well, and live with purpose.
Mr. DeJesus is married to his wife, Suri, and is the proud father of three children: Sheena, Arielle, and Gabby.
